六田知弘

Tomohiro Muda

• 1956- Born in Nara Prefecture
• 1980- Graduates from Department of Education, Waseda University
• 1982- Begins career as an independent photographer

In 1988, Muda presented "The Land of Sherpa", his first private exhibition, featuring photographs he took during his stay in the Himalayan village of Sherpa. He later traveled around the world to capture images of various Japanese, Romanesque and Byzantine art, as well as Buddhist ruins such as Chinese cave art, the Borobudur, Angkor and Ajanta. Using "Spaces for Prayer, Forms of Prayer" as a theme, he displayed them through photo exhibitions and publications.
Muda has also exhibited numerous photographs as fine art with a focus on "light" and "presence", including "Rome, The Wall of Time", "Face of Iron" and "Portraits of Poli", in which he depicts Poli, a medieval Italian town in the mountains.

六田知弘（むだともひろ）

• 1956年　奈良県に生まれる
• 1980年　早稲田大学教育学部卒業
• 1982年　フリーランスの写真家となる
• 1988年　ヒマラヤのシェルパの村に暮らして撮影した最初の個展「ひかりの素足──シェルパ」を開催。
  以降、日本美術、ロマネスク、ビザンチン、アジアの仏教遺跡など、「祈りの空間、祈りのかたち」をキーワードに世界各地の美術を撮影、写真展や出版を通じて発表する。
• 2007年夏、東京の国立西洋美術館としては初の写真展「祈りの中世　ロマネスク美術写真展」を開催。 また、「光」とものの「存在」にこだわった、ファインアートとしての写真作品も多く発表する。 主な作品はGalleryページにて公開。

人物、風景、科学、ルポ等多分野の撮影をしてきたが、なかでも文化財、古美術品の撮影を得意とする。
1995年、外部の者としては初めて「正倉院宝物」を撮影する機会を得る。
また、ロマネスクやビザンティン美術、雲岡石窟、ボロブドゥールなど「祈りの空間、祈りのかたち」をテーマに世界各地の美術を巡り撮影している。
その他、展覧会のポスターや図録の表紙の撮影、古美術店からの依頼による撮影や企業、個人のコレクションの写真撮影も手がける。
ライフワークとして、ネパールヒマラヤのシェルパの村に暮らして撮影した「ひかりの素足」やイタリアの中世都市ポリを撮影した「ポリの肖像」などがある。
